Create a form

Prepare documents with inSign

There are a range of options for creating forms that can be filled out. One of those is to use the inSign software solution. Documents can be furnished with form fields and then electronically completed and signed using inSign. These include check boxes, signature and text fields.

The inSign form editor

Do you have a PDF document with missing form fields? No problem! Simply upload the PDF to inSign and add the missing fields using the form editor. Drag the field that you want to move to the right place in your document using drag & drop. You can then download the document, sign it yourself or approve it for completion and signing. In no time at all, you have not only created a PDF that can be filled out, but you have also digitised your signing procedure.

The inSign Word add-in

Do you have a Word document that you would like to furnish with form fields? You can add fields quickly and easily and move them to the desired place in your document using drag & drop with the inSign add-in for Word. To install the add-in, click on ‘Insert’ tab the menu bar in Word and then select ‘Get add-ins’. Enter the word ‘inSign’ in the search bar and then add it. You can then find the inSign symbol on the right-hand side under ‘Start’.

Once you have furnished the Word form with the necessary fields and clicked ‘Done’, the file will automatically be converted to a PDF when it is uploaded, and you can then have the procedure signed using the inSign online application.

The inSign text modules (SIG tags)

The so-called ‘SIG tags’ are an alternative to the Word add-in. These are special text modules, which you can insert anywhere in your document. These are automatically converted to form fields in inSign. This is especially advantageous if the content of the documents has to be altered again, but all of the form fields that have already been set should move with the text.

SIG tags always start with ##SIG and contain the desired parameters, as in the example below.

BeispielSIG-TAG
Mandatory signature field with 10cm width##SIG{required:'true',w:'10cm'}
Optional text field, 21mm height, 80mm width##SIG{type:'text',required:false,h:'21mm',w:'80mm'}
Optional signature field, 2cm vertical shift##SIG{required:false,y:'-2cm'}

Insert these text modules in the desired place and then change the text colour of the SIG tags to white so that the text is no longer visible. If you export the document as a PDF and upload it to inSign, the desired fields automatically appear in the defined places. You can then complete, sign or approve the document for further editing by another person.

Regardless of whether you want to create a PDF or a Word form, it is quickly taken care of with inSign. If you have any questions about the application, you can contact us at any time. As an inSign licence holder, you also receive access to our extensive support and help centre. Here, you can carefully read through all of the described steps once again.
